Living Dead Girl Review



  If you need a book that just leaves you saying "Whoa!" then oh boy do I have a book for you. This book is about fifteen-year-old Alice who has been held against her will for the past five years, honestly as a sex slave. The "man" who holds her, Ray, keeps her at home, away from anyone that she could tell, makes claims that Alice is mentally handicapped, so even if she tells anyone, no one would believe her, since he was "such an upstanding man." Also, Ray reminds her fairly often if she tells anyone, he will go and kill Alice's family. Alice knows that Ray will kill her because he keeps talking about her death and Alice is damned if she's not going out without a fight. Now, I'm gonna give heavy trigger warnings for rape and pedophilia. This book is so so so dark and twisted, but honestly probably accurate. I don't want to say more than that because I don't know what else to say because this isn't a long book (under 200 pages) but also this isn't a plot-heavy book, but giving a hellish atmosphere. I still highly recommend reading this even if I didn't give the best review.

Murder Monday #7 The Parachute Murder

    Okay, if there was ever a way to end the month of love it's with talking about the Parachute Murder, granted I never heard of it before I started researching for the blog, but oh boy are you guys in for a doozy.    So, everything started on November 18, 2006, when Els Van Doren, Els Clottemans, and Marcel Somers went skydiving together and it ended up with Van Doren's primary and reserve parachute failing to deploy, causing her to fall to her death from the height of over 2 miles. The police established that the cords of the parachute had been cut and Van Doren's video camera captured the dive (I have no idea if the video is out there, but I didn't really want to watch someone plummet to their death.) As the police continued the investigation and learned of a love triangle between the three of them, in which Clottemans was in love with Sommers and Sommers was in love with Van Doren AND Van Doren and Clottemans had a sexual relationship with Sommers.   OH. MY. GAWD! Okay, so if you guys haven't heard about this book, I'm going to give your post-rock self a fairly new book that you are going to want to pick up ASAP. Truth be told I have no idea what the genre of this book is, it's historical fiction, but I feel like it's more revisionist historical fiction, but then there are dystopian aspects to it because there are ZOMBIES, or shamblers as they call them in the book, but holy shit you will love this book.
