    I'm back and it's time for me to talk about all the books I'm gonna spend my birthday money on. Sorry this is up a bit late     My Calamity Jane     Genre:     Release Date: Historical Fiction, Retelling, YA Now I read and loved My Lady Jane, the first book in this series, and I'm kinda excited to see how the Lady Janies tackle westerns.  So the book surrounds Calamity Jane, who hunts garous when she isn't working at Wild Bill's Traveling Show and after a hunt went south Jane ends up with a mysterious bite on her arm, she heads to Deadwood in search of a cure.     It's time for another ARC review. I did receive this book via Edelweiss, so shout out to them, but this is a cozy mystery centered around two sisters creating a true-crime podcast. There is representation for those that are hard of hearing since there is a character who is now completely deaf (I don't know how well this is done because I do not fit into this demographic and to my knowledge, this isn't own voices for it). But the book is about Liv Olson who used to work as a sound engineer in the #1 podcast series in the country, but now has given up that job to start her own podcast with her younger stepsister, Camry, called Missing or Murdered and the first season is surrounding the disappearance of Amelia Clark, a young woman who went missing after a Youtube video of her went viral that wasn't the most flattering.   For a lot of us, we always enjoy seeing books about bookish main characters and this is definitely one of those books. Nina Hill is very much a person who prefers a life-based in schedules. She has her book clubs once a week, trivia night once a week, and has always kinda been on her own. Her mother is a travel photographer who mainly left Nina with a nanny for most of Nina's life, and her father... well she never knew who her father was. UNTIL Nina gets a visit at her job at an independent bookstore from her father's lawyer, well her late father's lawyer. Apparently, Nina's father was a wealthy man with a rather large family and Nina gets thrown into the chaos of her father's side of the family: including several siblings, nieces, and nephews; Nina's family tree blooms from one branch to a full, blooming tree.  All in all, this book is overall very cute.   Usually, I don't like novellas, they're okay but I never really get the sense of knowing what's going on and who the characters really are, just because you don't have much time to go in-depth into character development (also most of the novellas I read are romance so just keep that in mind), but this book just exceeded all my expectations.  So the premise is about the Wajinru "people," essentially they are almost like mermaids however they are the descendants of the pregnant African slave women who were thrown overboard by slavers. For most of them, they live fairly idyllic lives in the depths of the ocean; however, the Historian is one who must bear the burden of their people's harsh past and it's only during the Remembering that the rest of the Wajinru remember their past. Our protagonist Yetu is the current Historian who believes that her role as Historian is slowly sapping her of her existence and leaving her as a husk for the Wajinru

 Okay, so I figured that everyone that wants to reads this book has already read it, but GUYS, this book was so good! As much as I want to talk to people about all the spoilery things that happened, I know that I need to make this review a push for people that are on the fence or people that insist they aren't going to read this book, to read it.
