Murder Monday #5 Emilia Carr

Born Emilia Yera on August 4, 1984, in Citra, Florida. She was the second of three sisters and a psychologist estimated her IQ to be 125. When he was 15, she reported abuse by her father, but then withdrew her statement; eventually, her father was convicted of attempting to solicit the murders of his family and sentenced to four years in prison.
Carr was married twice and had three children. She had to file a restraining order against one of her ex-husbands and was also sentenced to two years of probation for her involvement in her ex-husband's grand theft of exotic birds(not sure if it was the same ex as the one she had to get the restraining order from). In November 2008, she was engaged to Joshua Fulgham, who ended marrying Heather Strong one month later, although Carr stayed in contact with them, babysitting Strong's two children. In January 2009, Fulgham was arrested for threatening Strong with a shotgun, but eventually, the charges were dropped; it was later revealed that Carr threatened Strong with a knife to drop the charges.
On February 15, 2009, Heather Strong was reported missing and her remains were found on March 19 by a storage trailer in Boardman, Florida. Carr was arrested on March 24, who was eight months pregnant with Fulgham's child at the time. Carr had tricked Strong into the storage trailer behind her mother's home and placed a plastic bag over head after she unsuccessfully tried to break Strong's neck. Fulgham was arrested on suspicion of fraud since he was using Strong's credit cards after her disappearance.
Carr and Fulgham waived their right to a speedy trial and Carr wasn't tried until the end of 2010. She was found guilty of first-degree murder and kidnapping and was sentenced to death by lethal injection. Fulgham went to trial in April 2012 for first-degree murder and kidnapping. He was found guilty but was sentenced to life in prison, mainly because the motive for murder was jealousy and betrayal. However, on May 19, 2017, Carr was resentenced to life without parole.
