August New Releases

While some of you might be going back to school, that doesn't mean that I'm gonna stop reading. Okay I gotta stop with these cheesy openings let's get into the new releases.

Catwoman: Soulstealer by Sarah J Maas
Genre:
Release Date: August 7

Now I have to admit, I'm not knowledgeable about super heroes, Marvel, DC, all that; BUT I am slowly trying to get into them (if you guys follow me on Goodreads, which you should, you will see all the comics  I've been reading recently). Now with that all aside this book is about Selina Kyle (who I assume is catwoman) who after escaping Gotham City's slums learns that Batman is off and Batwing is left to hold down the fort, which means Gotham City is ripe for the taking. Now my main allure to wanting to read this because one: like I said, trying to get into superheroes, two I love shady people as protagonists, and three, SARAH J MAAS!

A Killer's Mind by Mike Omer
Genre: Mystery, Thriller
Release Date:

Three Chicago women are found strangled, embalmed, and posed and forensic psychologist Zoe Bentley is called to investigate. While Zoe's hyper focused, her new partner, Special Agent Tatum Gray, has little respect for the rules. They must delve into their killer's psyche and learn his twisted fantasies or else more women will die. So I'm getting massive Criminal Minds vibes from this and I'm SO EXCITED!

Rust & Stardust by T. Greenwod
Genre: Historical Fiction
Release Date: August 7

11-year-old Sally Horner steals a notebook from a local store, but little does she know that recently released Frank LaSalle is watching her. Convincing Sally that he is an FBI who can have her arrested unless she does what he says, he takes her across the country while mentally and physically assaulting her. I'm not even kidding this sounds like two different true crime stories and I'm not sure what case this is based off of, but I'm so excited.

Heretics Anonymous by Katie Henry
Genre: YA, Contemporary
Release Date: August 7

As Michael and his family moved again, he is enrolled into a strict Catholic school. But he's an atheist. When a girl named Lucy challenges one of the teachers, Michael believes he has found another nonbeliever. Except Lucy is Catholic, and wants to be a priest. However, Lucy introduces Michael to other St. Clare's outcasts and he joins Heretics Anonymous, where they can be whoever they want.

The Masterpiece by Fiona Davis
Genre: Historical Fiction, Mystery
Release Date: August 7

For residents of New York City, Grand Central Terminal is a crown jewel, but for Clara Darden and Virginia Clay, it represents something quite different. For Clara, the terminal is the stepping stone for her future, as she is a 25-year-old teacher in 1928 who has dreams of creating cover art for Vogue. For Virginia, the terminal represents the decline that her life is currently in. In 1974, the terminal is subjected to be destroyed as it has declined to be nothing more than a den for theft and drug dealers. Virginia takes a job at the information booth at the terminal to support herself and her daughter, until she stumbles upon the abandoned art school that laid within the terminal. I am a sucker for historical fiction, especially from the 1920s, and I am super excited that I will putting up a review of this book next week, so keep an eye out for it :)

A Touch of Gold by Annie Sullivan
Genre: YA, Fantasy
Release Date: August 14

We all know the story of King Midas; everything he touched turned to gold and I mean EVERYTHING, including his own daughter., almost killing her. When a thief steals precious items from the kingdom, leaving the kingdom depleted and vulnerable; Kora must use her ability to sense gold to find the thief. OMG, not only does this feel like a retelling, but it definitely has Walk on Earth a Stranger vibes, so I'm game.
