True Crime Podcasts Recommendations

So I figured to start out Murder Mondays here I would talk about some of my favorite true crime podcasts. Usually, this is how I get my true crime fix since it's small amounts of true crime but they make me feel like I'm not insane for finding this stuff interesting. If you have a favorite true crime podcast that I didn't mention leave a comment down below since there are so many true crime podcasts and a lot of new ones are coming out.

Unsolved Murders, (Also Serial Killers and Cults): Now each of these Parcast podcasts talk about different things, but their titles are self-explanatory, and the episodes are fairly short, no more than an hour each, but most of the subjects are separated into two episodes, for example in Unsolved Murders the first episode is about the murder itself and the second episode talks about the potential suspects. But in the episodes not only do they provide historical or psychological context, but there’s also some old school radio drama acting that I completely appreciate, although a lot of the voices are recycled so if you decide to binge these episodes, that may get a bit confusing, just a heads up.

Generation Why: Now I’m not sure if this podcast has a company they fall under (like how Unsolved Murders, Cults, and Serial Killers all fall under Parcast) or if this podcast if just two guys making this podcast on their own, but this podcast falls under true crime still. At first, they talked about different conspiracy theories, like vaccinations, but slowly the podcast has turned into questionable murders, like Stephen Avery,  making you question what really happened. I thoroughly enjoy the no-BS these guys give and most of the episodes are about an hour to an hour and a half and there’s plenty of back stock of podcasts.

True Crime All the Time: Now this one is pretty simplistic in terms of true crime. There are no limits to what they’ll talk about, like one time killers or serial, and usually, the episodes are one hour, but I truly love the back and forth the hosts have. I will say though they do all of their Patreon shout outs at the beginning (whereas a lot of podcasts will do this at the end) so you might want to skip about 5 minutes in to get to the true crime.

MFM: I think if you enjoy true crime then surely you know the queens of true crime, but for those of you that don’t Karen and Georgia are hilarious, give no fucks BAMFs. They talk about two different murders (while most podcasts talk about one) putting in their own commentary. Most of the episodes are at least an hour or two long, but they have minisodes where they talk about listener submitted hometown murders, or weird shit that happened to them or someone in their family and these are under 30 minutes long.

Small Town Murder: So if you love  MFM I think you’ll love Small Town Murder. These guys are similar to Karen and Georgia in that they talk about true crime with a bit of humor, to quote them: “We’re assholes, not scumbags.” This title is self-explanatory but they will find a small town murder and discuss it, giving background into the small town and then talking about the murder, while making fun of the  murderer, the small town (“because we all come from a small town”), or a bumbling police force, but never the victim or the victim’s family.

Hope you enjoyed this list and maybe you found a new true crime podcast to listen to and if I  didn’t talk about your favorite true crime podcast let me know in the comments down below. Starting next week, I’ll be starting to talk about true crime and all of the months will be themed :)
